“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
I’m always looking for a quick fix for some of my frail-human-heart issues (think: discontentment, complaining, impatience, bad attitude). An answer that’s simple and can cover a multitude of issues. Something comprehensive and powerful to knock down and drag out the ugliness in my heart that rears its head all too often. And I’m a simple-minded person; I need a bulleted list! But there just isn’t one. Only there is, actually! It’s found in the verses above.
1. Rejoice always (Jab!)

I’ve found that no matter what my circumstances are, if I can coax my heart (my stubborn, stubborn heart) into a posture of thankfulness, if I can understand that whatever the Lord has allowed to happen in my life is woven into a tapestry for good (thinking of Romans 8:28), that He is sovereign over all and that absolutely nothing happens without His permission, and then I use the knock-out method above, it goes a looong way toward helping me crucify my bad attitude. If that doesn’t call for a hallelujah I don’t know what does!
I’m not going to lie, it’s a really cute-sounding verse; it makes for a cute design! But don’t underestimate the powerful call to action that it is! I created this design to be your reminder of the power you have to choose your response to your circumstances. Bring it with you wherever you go (because life’s difficulties are everywhere) and be strengthened in your faith as you see the fruit of applying these verses!
